AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
To get the most from your treatment with Alan it's important to follow some simple aftercare notes
Massage increases the flow of blood around the body and will release many toxins from your system. Immediately after a treatment you may need to take a few moments to let your head clear before driving. In addition, some people experience heightened sensitivity to pain receptors and this may cause some discomfort for up to 24 hours after your treatment. It is recommended that you have a follow-up treatment 7 to 10 days (and no longer than 14 days) after your first session. Alan will also recommend any additional steps, stretches or issues you will need to be aware of.
FLUIDS & diet
Drink plenty of water and stick to herbal teas for at least a couple of days after your treatment. Water assists with the detoxifying process and helps to rehydrate your body.
Try to eat lightly on the day of your treatment. Massage can stimulate the digestive system and large or heavy meals may make you feel nauseous.
REST
Avoid vigorous exercise or strenuous activity for up to 24 hours after your treatment. This includes taking fitness classes, hitting the gym and doing housework or yard work. Your body will need to rest to encourage the body's natural healing processes.
stimulants
Avoid alcohol, smoking and caffeine for the rest of the day of your massage or treatment. These can have a dehydrating effect on the body and may reduce the effectiveness of your treatment.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
You may feel faint, tired or thirsty after your treatment. These are all natural responses - it's important you listen to your body, rest when needed and hydrate when necessary.
LISTEN TO ALAN
If Alan provides 'homework' in the form of stretching, exercises or supplements it is important that you try to follow his instructions as closely as possible. These recommendations form a part of your treatment plan and will enrich and lengthen the effectiveness of his treatments.
